Classic auto insurance is a special kind of insurance you would get for a classic, or veteran car.
There are 5 different kinds of classic cars you should be aware of, as you are going to need to find out which category yours falls into before you will even be able to get a policy.
There are actually different types of Classic Autos, and each one will have a different rate on their premiums, as they have different needs.
So it is best not to group them all into one category.
There are the different types of classic cars there are, including what year would put them into that kind of classification. All other cars can and are deemed to be "regular" cars and would just get regular insurance for them.

- Manufactured before 1974
Cherished:
- collectible or rare cars that are around 5 - 10 years old, these fall more or less into the high end cars that were of limited edition. Just because your car is 5 - 10 years old, does not mean it will fall into this category, and you might just be looking at regular insurance.
The insurer will find the value of the car, and base the insurance starting with that, as well as what type of classic auto category it does fall into. Sometimes it might be best that you get your car appraised before you go off to get the insurance in the first place.
There is a chance you might get a discount for reduced mileage; so if you only are showing the car, or going to a car club, and not driving it all the time. This could effect the amount you have to pay for premiums.
You Can Get Special Insurance for Your Classic Cars Such as:
- written off in an accident
- courtesy cars; covers such things as events for rallies or sprints
- special coverage if the car is off the road while being restored, this is called laid up insurance.
Like all insurance, it is always best to get several different quotes, this still applies to classic auto insurance as well. Remember always arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible when shopping for any kind of insurance, otherwise you might walk away with a policy that does not suit your situation just right, and something might happen, and you find yourself out in the cold.
